There are a variety of homeland security careers to consider when you want to join this government administration, so as long as you are an American citizen and have the right qualifications, you have a lot of options to choose from.

A job in immigration and customs enforcement can mean you will be monitoring action at the borders to prevent criminals from entering or exiting the country and to ensure that all import and export business transactions are legitimate.

If you work in customs and border protection however, you will be physically monitoring the borders by checking all cars that leave and enter the country for smuggling or illegal entry.

There are also areas like the Coast Guard and that Federal Emergency Management Agency that respond to disaster calls and of course the secret service whose aim it is to protect the president as well as other visiting leaders.
