What FBI Training Do You Need To Excel In An FBI Career?

An FBI agent is an intensive, gruelling, selfless career choice that will make your profession your life. It requires someone with extreme dedication, commitment and stamina and of course extensive FBI training.

It is however, extremely interesting and rewarding, but it needs to be seriously considered before you pursue your training. If you are between 23 and 37, are a US citizen and are able to pick up and fly to wherever you need to be, look into the steps to fulfill your dreams.

How to Become an FBI Agent

Step 1: Get a bachelor's degree in an appropriate subject. You must graduate from an accredited university with credentials in law, science, accounting or an FBI diversified course since you will need these subjects to qualify for one of the FBI's 5 special agent entry programs. These are the critical skills they require and you must fit into at least one of the categories to be eligible.

Step 2: Accumulate at least 3 years of professional experience in any field. You will not be able to apply for FBI training straight out of school. It is unlike police officer training in this way which will accept new graduates.

Step 3: Go to the FBI website for information on applications and locations of field offices. There are 7 parts to the application process, beginning with filling out an online application form. If that is approved, a series of testing begins.

Step 4: You will need to undergo a series of test beginning with Phase I written tests and Phase II written tests and interviews. These 2 phases are the crucial beginning steps to moving on to law enforcement training academy.

Step 5: Receive the Conditional Letter of Appointment. This is a conditional job offer that sparks the next series of tests, including a physical fitness test, an FBI background check, and a full medical examination including specific hearing and vision requirements.

Step 6: If you pass all the tests, you will be admitted to a 4 month training program at the FBI central headquarters in Quantico, Virginia.

Step 7: Once you graduate, you will be on probation for 2 years in one field office, and will probably have to remain there for an additional 2 years before you can transfer. Your FBI training will continue with simple tasks and field assignments before you can prove yourself on the team.
